Job Opportunity: Summer Green Team Member

Location: Lord Roberts Community Centre, Winnipeg, MB
Term: Summer 2026. Roughly mid-May to mid-September (flexible start/end dates).
Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week initially, with full-time hours available during the summer break.
Wage: $16/hour

Position Overview
We are looking for energetic, motivated youth to join our Green Team for the upcoming summer season. You will report to the General Manager or Site Supervisor, playing a key role in maintaining our community centre’s grounds and supporting our local recreation programs. This position is made possible through funding from the Manitoba Urban/Hometown Green Team program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Grounds Maintenance: You will keep our facility beautiful by mowing grass, weeding garden beds, and pruning trees or shrubs.
  • Facility Care & Maintenance: This includes assisting with general upkeep like painting, cleaning, and light repairs to our indoor and outdoor equipment.
  • Community Beautification: Helping with flower planting, litter collection, and graffiti removal around the centre and nearby public spaces.
  • Event Support: Assisting with the set-up and take-down of equipment for our summer camps, neighborhood BBQs, and other special events.
  • Public Safety: Ensuring all walkways and playgrounds remain safe and clear of debris for local families.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Eligibility: Must be a Manitoba resident between the ages of 15 and 29.
  • Certifications: If you are 15 years old, you must provide a Young Worker Readiness Certificate.
  • Work Style: We need someone who can work well as part of a team but is also capable of handling independent tasks. You should be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Safety & Checks: All staff must follow Workplace Safety and Health regulations and wear appropriate footwear. A satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Registry Check may be required.
