We are excited to host a new art program hosted by our neighbourhood’s own Beth Gillespie.

Art class is a journey into the imagination — a place where storytelling and creativity meet colour, texture, and form. Each lesson becomes a chapter in a larger narrative, where students don’t just learn how to make art, but why art speaks to them.

In this class, students explore a variety of styles and mediums — from painting and drawing to collage, three dimensional creations and paper craft. Each project begins with an idea or story to tell, encouraging students to think deeply about themes, emotions, and perspectives. As they create, they learn how different techniques and materials can bring their narratives to life, transforming imagination into visual expression.

At times, these lessons will draw inspiration from art history, connecting students’ work to great artists and movements from around the world.

Ultimately, this art class becomes more than a place to learn technical skills — it’s a space to explore identity, communicate ideas, and see the world through the eyes of a child.

Session one runs:

Wednesdays Feb 11 – April 15, from 6:00-7:30pm.

Age 6-10

Beth has been a professional graphic designer and illustrator for over 20 years, with a passion for bringing ideas to life through color, creativity, and storytelling. When she’s not designing, she loves sharing the joy of art with kids—teaching them to explore their imaginations and express themselves through various mediums and hands-on creativity. Whether she’s working on a book cover design or leading a children’s art workshop, her goal is always the same: to inspire and connect with others through art.

Beth has an advanced degree in Graphic Design and is a proud resident of Lord Roberts.
